The FOLAO Elections Commission in keeping with the mandate from the current FOLAO Leadership wishes to announce the Timetable for the 2023 FOLAO general elections. The election is slated for April 15, 2023, in Toledo, Ohio. The Official Guidelines of FOLAO-ECOM schedule are listed below. All potential contestants are deeply urged to follow and maintain the schedule for the 2023 FOLAO General Elections. 

Elections Timetable for the 2023 General Elections:

December 1, 2022-December 31, 2022

The commission began accepting applications from aspirants wishing to contest for position (s) on FOLAO Executive Committee. The Executive Officers of the Federation are Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General, Treasurer, Chaplain, Parliamentarian, and Recording Secretary

All applications are to be mailed in hard copy to 1462 Bensch Drive, Toledo, Ohio 43614, or hand delivered to members of the Commission (Nearl Venn of Toledo, Prince Gonway of Toledo, Rev. Varney Yarkpazuo of Columbus, Prince Kpukuyou of Columbus, and Korvah Cargbo of Cleveland) No application via email will be accepted by the Commission.

Applicants for the positions of Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General, respectively, are required to submit a written application, one passport photo, one letter of recommendation, and a non-refundable registration and processing fee of $150.00 (One hundred fifty dollars). Similarly, all applicants for the positions of Treasurer, Parliamentarian, Chaplain, and Recording Secretary, respectively, are required to submit a written application, one passport photo, one letter of recommendation, and a nonrefundable registration and processing fee of $125.00 (one hundred twenty-five dollars) The fee must be sent in cash or certified money order.

 

Deadline for receiving of Applications for all positions:

Applications will be received between December 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, beginning at 07:00am and ending at 12:00 noon.

January 15, 2023:

Names of qualified candidates will be published 11:59pm

January 15,2023 to January 20, 2023:

Contesting of qualified candidates list will begin on 1/15/23 and end 1/20/2023

February 1, 2023,

Publication of qualified candidates and Campaigns officially start

April 5, 2023

Deadline of submission of chapters delegates list

April 10, 2023, at 12:00pm.

End of Campaigning

April 15, 2023

FOLAO’s Constitutional Guidelines for Candidates Qualification for these elections:

CHAPTER III

ARTICLE 12: INACTIVE STATUS: Any chapter failing to meet all their obligations for active status defined in paragraphs a, b, and c above shall be considered INACTIVE. 

CHAPTER V

ARTICLE 18: No person, except a qualified Liberian who is a legal resident of the United States; legally residing in the State of Ohio for at least one year; possessing at least an Associate Degree, organizational leadership experience or its equivalent; and, active and in good standing with his/her member chapter, shall be eligible for the offices of Secretary General of the Federation. Such a person must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

 ARTICLE 19: For the purposes and intents of this Constitution, a qualified Liberian shall encompass all persons of Liberian origin by birth or naturalization or dual nationality, their spouses, and their offspring, who are active members of a chapter of the Federation.
